Some very fine pinots have emerged in recent years from this Western Australian region, and Castle Rock Estate winemaker Rob Diletti- who made this one-is a key player. This pinot has a lot going for it, including the price. It has a medium-full red-purple hue and a voluminous bouquetthat suggests spices and dark cherries. It’s light to medium bodied, with richness and nicely balanced fruit sweetness, the finish soft and fleshy. There’s a lot of character and charm packed into a relatively inexpensive bottle. Best drinking from now to 2020.
