Does your mum love wine? Well, guess what? Mother’s Day is just around the corner (it’s the second Sunday in May every year in Australia) and boy do we have some tasty Mother’s Day gift ideas for her.
From products to experiences, we have gift ideas that come in all shapes and sizes for every budget. The only criteria is that she loves her vino! If your mumma ticks that box, then read on about how you can spoil her this Mother’s Day and earn buckets full of brownie points.
1. Wine & dine mum at one of the tastiest spots in town
We are spoilt for choice when it comes to great eating and drinking spots in Perth. However, there is one spot in particular that we can’t get enough of at the moment and it’s also had a smashing of rave reviews.
If you haven’t already come across it, we’d like to introduce you to Manuka Woodfired Kitchen at 134 High St in Fremantle. From woodfired pizza topped with blue manna crab to slow roasted lamb should and vanilla bean custard with honeycomb and truffle – the menu will take you to foodie heaven.
The delicious dishes on the menu change frequently, which we think is a great excuse for return visits. Not to mention everything from the bread to veggies and the meat are cooked in the woodfire oven!
The husband and wife team behind this Perth hot spot have some serious skills. Head chef, Kenny McHardy worked in London’s two-Michelin-star restaurant named Pétrus alongside Walter’s Wine Bar (Melbourne) and Due South in Albany (Western Australia) before opening up Manuka Kitchen with his wife Jody. Jody runs the front of house and she does a marvellous job with all the staff being so super friendly and knowledgeable on the West Australian produce used in the dishes.
But it’s not just the food that has our taste buds salivating, the wine menu will keep any Perth wine lover happy. So much so, that it might be best just to take an Uber!
Here are some comments from some Perth food bloggers:
“Chef and I are impressed by Manuka Woodfire Kitchen’s punchy flavours and beautifully cooked food. We would happily return for more of their warm hospitality by the wood fire.” – The Chef, his wife and their Perthfect life
“This is the kind of dish that makes you really appreciate vegetables, and I found myself going back in over and over again for more. We basically licked the plate clean!” – Queen of Bad Timing
2. Wine, wine and more wine
A list of gifts for wine-loving mums definitely needs to include the simple idea of buying her some wine. And with the beauty of the internet, it means you can do it right now in your pyjamas and have it delivered to her door.
Here at 3drops we wanted to celebrate the occasion by offering some special Mother’s Day gift vouchers. Your mum doesn’t even need to be based in Perth because we deliver Australia wide!
We’re pretty sure one of these will tickle her fancy:
- $55 voucher – Mum can choose 2 bottles from any of our current vintage wines with postage anywhere in Australia
- $100 voucher - Mum can choose 4 bottles from any of our current vintage wines with postage anywhere in Australia
- $250 voucher - Mum can choose a straight or mixed case from any of our current vintage wines with postage anywhere in Australia
Or if you know exactly what she drinks, why not browse our online wine shop so she can get stuck into her wine delivery straight away.
3. Home cooked deliciousness
Who doesn’t love a bit of home cooking? Especially when you’re the one who is being cooked for. Give mum the night off cooking and whip up a storm for her in the kitchen.
It doesn’t have to be an extravagant feast either. Simple and tasty is just as good.
Here are some ideas to get the culinary ideas flowing:
- To start: Fresh bread and boutique WA made olive oil for dunking (we would highly recommend our delectable West Australian made cold pressed extra virgin olive oil at $15 a bottle)
- Main meal: With the colder weather fast approaching, why not whip up a curry or do a bbq if we’re lucky enough to have some nice weather on the day. Both of which will go excellently with a bottle of Shiraz
- Dessert: And to finish off why not indulge in something chocolatey, even a simple bar of dark chocolate and bottle of Cabernets will keep those taste buds happy
After all that, there’s no doubt you’ll be in mums good books!
4. Tickets to a Perth wine event
The Perth wine scene has really taken off in the past couple of years. There are a number of wine events happening throughout the city and state during the year. So why not treat mum to a unique Perth wine event experience.
We may be a little bit biased but we think a ticket to the upcoming Women of Inspiration Wine Dinner at the Royal Perth Yacht Club in Crawley will make her go ‘wow’!
Tickets are $140 and throughout the night (6:30-10pm Thursday 24th May 2018) she’ll hear 3 inspiring women speak to help celebrate Cultural Diversity Week in Australia. Mum will dine on dishes from Vietnam, India and Lebanon whilst sipping away on our Great Southern wines.
It is sure to be a great night and it would make a wonderfully unique, inspiring and memorable gift for any mum.
We hope this blog post has given you some gift ideas for your wine loving mum this Mother’s Day. In our opinion, you can never go wrong with a bottle of Great Southern wine!
