I am excited to be hosting this special evening, where you'll be inspired by three unsung heroes who are making a positive impact on our community through their actions, their beliefs and their dedication. They have broken stereotypes and changed the game in many ways.
The dinner menu will showcase dishes inspired by our speaker's heritage from Italy, Spain and Australia. Prepared by Hyatt Chef Simon George and his team each dish will be complemented by a selection of Great Southern wines from 3 drops.
Come and celebrate these unsung champions in our community and be inspired by phenomenal women. Tickets include a 3-course dinner and 3drops wine. Mercy Care’s First Time Ever Fund, for children in out of home care, will be the recipient of fundraising including a selection of auction items and proceeds from sales.
The inspirational women who will be sharing their stories are;
My job is many people's dream job: being a forensic scientist, using science to investigate crimes and criminals. But what is the reality behind this dream? How is possible to have a normal life as a woman, wife and mum knowing how cruel, scary and unfair life and people can be? Follow my journey of courage in looking at the world for what it is, but remembering to believe that we can be the game changer.
As a businesswoman, wife and author juggling a large family, many assume my life has been easy. But that’s not so. I grew up with a deep yearning to escape the world I was born into. It crumbled and tore our family apart. I found myself a ward of the state and my story is one of hope and realisation. It is always possible to overcome challenges, be courageous, resilient and open-hearted - to be free.
It wasn't until I worked in a refuge that I thought about fostering and since then 27 children have called our house home, in emergency and other placements. This year my husband and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary along with our 3 biological daughters and 5 equally beloved foster children. My story is about an unplanned teenage pregnancy, the joy of being a mum, the importance of family and ending the cycle of abuse.
